Graveyard Keeper 2 Wood Farming, Sawmill and Lumberjack Stand

Find the Graveyard Keeper 2 sawmill work area, research Zombie Lumberjack, staff the stand and porter, and follow Logs from storage to production.

Quick Answer

Use the Sawmill work area, not a new sawmill placed anywhere in the yard. Research Zombie Lumberjack, finish its Lumberjack Stand and Timber Stockpile, assign an axe-equipped worker, then staff the separate Porter route. Confirm Logs reach the stockpile before diagnosing their onward delivery.

Find the existing work area and its build desk

The Abandoned Sawmill is the timber zone south-west of the Inquisition Base. Look for the water-side building, stone bridges, local build desk and timber storage. Use that zone’s desk for its stand and hauling post; the yard desk is a different construction area.

Quick Tips, Wood automation guide, 1:15: the Sawmill area is identified by its building and bridges. This is an existing work zone, not an anywhere-placeable factory machine. Watch this step ▶

Inspect the stockpile and chest that are already there before buying materials for duplicates. Access to the area and research for its zombie jobs are distinct checks.

Research the wood automation branch

Quick Tips, 1:35: the lumberjack branch and its storage blueprint are visible. The nearby Jack 50 gate belongs to Conveyors; it is not a universal requirement for every wood job. Watch this step ▶

The Sawmill upgrade is not the same blueprint as the initial stand. Follow the actual parent node and quest lock on your tree. Older demo videos can show a smaller available tree; absence there is not proof that full-game wood automation is unavailable.

Assign one cutter and a different hauler

  1. Finish the Lumberjack Stand in the sawmill area. Inspect the zombie and give it an axe that meets the work requirement.
  2. Carry and place that zombie through the stand’s assignment interaction. Confirm that the stand owns the worker.
  3. Finish the Timber Stockpile and leave space in it. Watch the cutter return with Logs and deposit them there.
  4. Staff the Porter Station with another zombie. Inspect the hauling stock selection and open the mine/base route used by that station.
  5. Watch one Log reach the downstream storage before extending a Factory conveyor to the wood input.

Logs are the source, not every finished wood product

The local 1.007 lumberjack recipe lists 1 Log and 2 Sticks with no material input. Boards, Wooden Planks, beams and Wooden Kits are later crafts at their respective stations. A pile of Logs does not satisfy a quest that asks for a differently named wood product.

Use the ingredient and workstation links in the crafting reference to trace the item you actually need. For a Factory Wooden Kit recipe, also inspect its listed extension; do not assume an unmodified Assembly bench can run every wood craft.

Official 1.009 includes a sawmill return-to-work fix. Check your platform’s available update before rebuilding a correctly configured job.

For hand-cut trees, community opening guides describe regrowth after stumps are removed outside construction zones. No fixed respawn timer is established here. The lumberjack production loop has its own resource recipe; it does not require you to keep replanting a particular tree beside the stand.
