The five endings and what controls them
| Ending | Requirement | New Game Plus? |
|---|---|---|
| Justice | Community score at least 20 | No |
| Forever | Community score from 0 to 19 | No |
| Abandoned | Community score below 0 | No |
| Dog | Donate all three coins to their Guide Dog banks and finish | Yes |
| Sci-fi | Inspect three Strange Books, obtain the Strange Access Card and use the final reader | Yes |
Justice, Forever and Abandoned share the main route and depend on actions earlier in the run. Dog and Sci-fi are separate pickup routes on New Game Plus. A “true” or “good” ending label does not create an extra sixth ending.

Understand the ordinary-ending score
The current community-researched model is: Discovery documents/clues − 2 × Simon kills − 4 × Simon revives − 3 × Zoe treatment mistakes. Its reported Justice boundary is 20 or higher. This is community research, not a numerical rule published by the developer.
Only the relevant documents and clues contribute Discovery points. Postcards, telephone calls, CRTV signals and resource containers are separate collectible categories. The overall kill statistic includes other playable characters and is not a substitute for Simon’s ending counter.
| Aim | Practical approach |
|---|---|
| Justice | Inspect many documents and clues; avoid optional Simon kills, revives and treatment errors. |
| Forever | Keep the score within the middle band rather than maximizing Discovery or indiscriminately killing. |
| Abandoned | Lower the score through fewer Discoveries or more relevant Simon kills/revives. |
Zoe’s treatment mistakes concern the patient sequence, not whether you used ordinary healing elsewhere. A Cannula revive is also different from normal healing. Final dialogue alone does not select any of these three endings.
Older guide comments sometimes count Richard’s kills toward the ordinary-ending formula. The later research distinguishes Simon’s counter. Keep a branch save and track the relevant actions instead of subtracting the global kill total.

Dog ending: three donations
| Coin | Pick up | Donate |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | Chapter 1: Video Star back-room shelf | Main Street bank before the Pharmacy |
| Silver | Chapter 9: Clara Woods, first junction’s right/backyard shelf | Chapter 10: bank behind the postal-service/laundromat route, reached with Boltcutters |
| Gold | Chapter 15: open SWDP room 793 from Remote Systems Control; coin at its console | Final bank beyond the container drop and red four-way junction |
- Start New Game Plus and collect the coin for each region before it closes.
- Donate each coin to its corresponding Guide Dog bank; carrying a coin is not the same as donating it.
- Finish the final fight and continue to Richard at the pier. The completed three-donation route selects Dog.
All three donations belong to the run. Do not assume a coin in an old save becomes an inventory item in your new campaign.

Sci-fi ending: three books and a card
| Item | Required location/action |
|---|---|
| Strange Book 1 | Chapter 3, Zoe’s bedroom floor beside the bed: inspect the space-flight book. |
| Strange Access Card | Chapter 6, after accepting the gift: hotel’s second-floor button door, then the room corner beside the elephant. |
| Strange Book 2 | Chapter 10, Atlas Square’s south-west shop, shelf near its entrance: inspect Freeze Me / Wake Me. |
| Strange Book 3 | Chapter 15, open room 621 with Remote Systems Control: inspect A Map of Nowhere Else near the resource container. |
| Final reader | Left wall of the red corridor before the final IV/fight door. Use the card with all three books inspected. |
For the hotel’s 12 buttons, numbered left to right and top to bottom, press 21, 17, 9, 21, 12, 24, 24, 5, 3, 9, 1, 14. The corresponding sequence is bird, tree, planet, bird, tripod, satellite, satellite, fish, rocket, planet, dog, pillar. Older versions missing one press are incomplete.
After the last card interaction, the Sci-fi route proceeds to its ending and skips the ordinary boss fight. Strange Postcards provide hints but are not additional required pickups for this trigger. Clearing Sci-fi enables Pistol 3000 availability on a subsequent New Game Plus run.

Use saves to avoid five full playthroughs
- Retain a Chapter 10 save before completing the constructed-device gate, giving room to adjust later Discoveries and relevant kills.
- On the New Game Plus run, collect the special-ending items before the regions close.
- Keep a Chapter 15 save before clamp release/red-crank progression and before committing to the Sci-fi reader.
- Finish one route, return to the main menu and load the appropriate preserved branch for another. Verify its items and prior actions.
- For Justice, avoid killing final-fight adds unnecessarily; those actions can affect the relevant score before the ending.
The trophy roadmap plans two full campaigns plus partial replays, with an optional separate speed/no-save run. This is a planned route rather than a guarantee that any arbitrary final save can produce all five endings. Missing an early coin or book requires an earlier save or another run.
