Official Steam language support
| Text / interface / subtitles | Full audio |
|---|---|
| English | Yes |
| Japanese | Yes |
| French, Italian, German | Not listed |
| Spanish — Spain / Latin America | Not listed |
| Portuguese — Brazil, Polish, Russian | Not listed |
| Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean | Not listed |
The grouped rows contain 13 languages, with Spanish variants and Chinese scripts counted separately. A translated store page or guide does not establish an in-game translation. For PS5, check the language listing for the exact regional product instead of assuming the Steam audio table applies to every console package.
Named community translation sources
| Language | Source | Scope and limit |
|---|---|---|
| Arabic | Abu Saud — version 1 | Author describes menus, text, subtitles and RTL support. PC PAK patch; no official Arabic voice claim. |
| Thai | Artdekdok x Mamathod | Text/font patch; author instructs copying its three matching files into Paks. |
| Turkish | Full Turkish Localization | Beta adds a text language; excludes dubbing, image-embedded writing and the separate BonusApp. |
| Hungarian | NightVison Software project listing | Listing describes work in progress. This is not proof of a finished downloadable translation. |
These are author/project claims reviewed October 11. We have not run a complete patched campaign or confirmed every puzzle, font and subtitle on patch 1.4.0. Read the latest Files, Posts and compatibility notes before selecting a release.
An Arabic-tagged mod or an author’s claim about “all Arabic text” does not change the official Steam language table. Different translations may target different language slots or override different assets.
Install and undo the documented Arabic PAK example
Abu Saud’s version 1 provides a concrete manual method for the PC copy. Use that author’s actual file rather than applying the same filename to every translation.
- Close Townfall. Use the storefront’s Browse local files command to locate the installation.
- Open
Townfall\Content\Paks. Record its current contents and back up any same-named file that would be replaced. - Place the author’s
pakchunk999-Windows_999_P.pakthere. Keep the archive and exact installed filename in a rollback record. - Start the game and check menus, subtitles, right-to-left layout and one readable note or puzzle clue. If text is missing or reversed, stop and check the author’s current report thread.
- To uninstall, close Townfall and remove only that added PAK. Restore any original file you replaced, then confirm the original text works.
Do not install multiple translations into the same text assets at once. If a patch overwrites game files, preserve the originals; a newly downloaded game update can change compatibility.
Thai, Turkish and Hungarian: avoid one-size-fits-all steps
The cited Thai release asks for three matching SHT_TH_Artdekdok_MamaThod_P files in the Paks folder. Keep the set together and record their names so you can remove that set later. It is not the same archive layout as the single-file Arabic example.
For the Turkish beta, read the release’s current instructions and exclusions before installation. “Full” in a title does not mean every visible texture, spoken line or separate app is localized. The Hungarian project entry is a progress listing; do not treat a completion percentage as an installable release.
PC PAK instructions do not establish support for PS5. If you need a language on console, decide from the regional official product listing rather than a Windows mod page.
Check a translation before relying on it
- Confirm the game name, storefront and supported build. Silent Hill f files are not Townfall files.
- Read a document with line breaks, a subtitle with names and a puzzle instruction; readable menus alone are not enough.
- Check whether voice acting remains in the original language. Text translation is not dubbing.
- After an update, retest before resuming a difficult puzzle. Keep a save backup separate from translation files.
The mod guide distinguishes PAK, configuration and framework methods.
