Permafrost Map: Controls, Quest Markers and Bone Cave
Open the Permafrost map, zoom and recenter, read the New Home quest marker and use the compass while navigating the opening Bone Cave route.

Open TAB → MAP. The recorded PC controls use the mouse wheel to zoom and SPACE to recenter. Read a quest marker’s tooltip, then follow the current HUD objective through the cave.

Open the map and return to your position
Open the inventory menu with TAB, then select the MAP tab. The recorded PC interface places it beside Journal and Skills. At the bottom of the map, the controls show mouse-wheel zoom and SPACE to recenter. These are the bindings visible in this pre-release recording; use your current on-screen prompts if you changed bindings.
- Open MAP before heading toward a distant compass marker.
- Use the mouse wheel to zoom out enough to compare nearby terrain and icons.
- Press SPACE if you have lost your current position while inspecting another part of the map.
- Read the north/east/south/west compass rose before comparing the map with your travel direction.
Read the quest name, not just the icon
In this view, hovering the yellow exclamation marker displays QUESTS: New Home and a description about gathering resources and building the necessary structures. That establishes a quest destination, rather than a labelled Flint deposit. Match the name with the objective currently shown in the gameplay HUD.
A broad map description and the immediate task can differ: the New Home tooltip describes establishing a home, while the cave HUD still asks the player to exit Bone cave. Complete the visible current step instead of trying to build at every yellow marker. The opening quest checkpoints show how that objective changes after rescuing the dog.
Use the map together with the cave route
The New Home recording still takes place inside Bone Cave. A compass marker above the player points toward the next objective, but it does not draw a safe walking route through cave pillars. Inspect the passage ahead and keep checking the objective name. Before leaving, a compatible pickaxe can collect Flint from the labelled boulder shown in our Flint gathering guide.
What this map shows about regions
The screenshot shows a revealed area surrounded by dark terrain. It is a local view from one player’s progress, not the entire game world. Bone Cave and the later Woods banner are landmarks in the recorded opening route. This page does not infer a total biome count, map size or complete resource distribution from that small revealed area.
If you are searching for a world atlas, use this page first to operate the in-game map and identify your active quest. A full atlas requires broader coverage of the current release; this image is not a clickable database of every resource node or shelter.
