Chicken state: revive a friend or recover a save
Quick answer
A surviving teammate can revive a downed player. In a solo or fully downed group, return to an available save rather than trying food as a cure.

Recover with a teammate
Have the surviving player approach the downed body and use the displayed revival interaction. Keep the rescuer stable and the route clear. Check that the recovered player can control the character before continuing.
No surviving rescuer
The earlier Demo recovery is to reload a prior save. This loses progress after that save, so treat it as recovery rather than a free teleport. Do not consume food or medicine expecting it to reverse the chicken state.
