Open the Mold Gate and reach The Collective

The Park Resonant is the quest; The Collective is the boss behind its gate. The hunt is optional for finishing the main story. It offers a Mold ability choice and the Insidious Growth trophy/achievement.

Eat the Cafe sample first, then the Pizzeria, Minimart and Gym samples in any order. Use the four Mold locations guide for routes and a saved checklist. Once the objective becomes Kill the Resonant Behind the Mold Gate, return to the central pit beside the Cafe and approach the organic barrier.

Follow the tunnel through the open gate and drop into the arena. If eating a sample is impossible on version 1.4.0, install 1.4.1 or later: Remedy confirms that the hotfix repairs this quest-blocking interaction.

Clear the tentacles across gravity planes

The arena has a main plane containing the boss’s head and two other planes where tentacles and Mold enemies appear. Use Shift on the gravity surfaces to move between them instead of trying to hit every target from the original floor.

  1. Find the active tentacles and move onto their plane.
  2. Dodge their slams and incoming Mold projectiles. Some shots can reach you from another plane.
  3. Clear the tentacles, dealing with nearby enemies when they block a safe approach.
  4. Return toward the main body when its weak point opens.

Attack the exposed core, then repeat

After the tentacles are removed, the body opens swollen, ball-like weak points. Close in and hit the exposed core during that window. If new tentacles appear, switch back to clearing them before trying another long sequence against the body.

The loop is active tentacles → exposed core → reposition. Keep watching for spore fire while moving. Standing in the same spot to extend a combo is a poor trade when attacks are coming from another plane.

If you already defeated The Deserter, its fire ability is useful against the Park’s Mold enemies. It is an optional preparation choice, not an extra sample or a substitute for moving across gravity planes.

Repeat until the boss is depleted and its finisher prompt appears. Use that prompt to complete the kill; do not leave after the last normal hit.

Choose Spore Burst or Growth

AbilityWhat changes your play
Spore BurstDirectly fire Mold projectiles at a target, building Infected. Choose it for an aimed attack between melee sequences.
GrowthSummon a Mold Ally that shoots spores while you fight. Choose it if you prefer a deployable helper.

The immediate menu selects one of these abilities. Complete the ensuing tutorial; you can change the unlocked choice at the Mural in The Gap. Damage differs with Ability Strength, so use your own menu values when comparing the powers.

Confirm the hunt is complete

Check for Quest Completed: The Park Resonant and the Insidious Growth trophy/achievement. Other rewards include Untapped Face Mask, one Reset Item and 3,000 Source. Eating the last sample opens the approach; it does not award boss completion by itself.

Return to The Gap to review the Mural and new ability, or continue the Park’s side quests. If an updated game still does not advance, preserve your save and record the exact tracked objective for Remedy support.
