Respawn capsules: power, single-use missions and team preparation

Quick answer

Read the contract modifiers before relying on a capsule. In Single-use Capsules missions, each capsule breaks after one respawn.

A secured capsule is not always permanent

The Single-use Capsules modifier was introduced in version 0.20. After a respawn consumes a capsule, find and activate another suitable point before assuming the next death is covered. Communicate the remaining fallback location to the team, especially when preparing a risky capture.

This is a contract modifier, not a reason to assume every capsule in every mission has always been single-use. Check the selected contract and the current Tutorial & Tips tab in the Pause menu if a familiar route suddenly behaves differently.

Recheck after power failure

Power conditions and specimen attacks can interrupt your escape plan. ID-008 can trigger EMPs, so coordinate a return to the command deck rather than treating a dark ship as a cosmetic change. Version 0.20 also fixed an interaction where ID-008 failed to reappear after power restoration under Low Power.

Before triggering a final objective, identify the available respawn location, the return route and the player carrying recovery equipment. Choosing a safer contract while learning these systems is more useful than spending every attempt on a difficult objective without a fallback.
