Unlock a Combo Finisher
At 15 Aberrant Strength, the finisher system becomes available. Build strength through Aberrant upgrades, then enter The Gap and interact with the tall weapon structure. The controller guides show holding D-pad Down to travel there.
- Open the Combo Finishers tab.
- Choose a starting node and spend one Living Shard.
- Open Loadout → Combo and assign the purchased finisher.
Only one finisher occupies the Combo slot. Buying it and equipping it are separate steps. Later upgrades have their own material requirements. Unlock threshold · 3:58 ▶
Trigger the equipped move
Complete the three-hit primary attack string, then continue Primary Attack to release your equipped finisher. It follows that chain; you do not need an enemy execution prompt first.
| Layout | Primary attack | Input sequence |
|---|---|---|
| Default PS5 | Square | Finish the primary string, then continue Square. |
| Default Xbox | X | Finish the primary string, then continue X. |
| PC / remapped | Your Primary Attack binding | Follow your current Controls mapping. |
Keep the sequence continuous. A long pause, interrupted attack or dodge can stop you reaching the added move. Find another opening and start the string again. The secondary attack is a different action.
Split Pivot and Split Orbit: continue through the short swipe to release the blade. The visible effect does not arrive on the same press for every finisher. Split-blade continuation · 7:34 ▶
The six finisher patterns
| Finisher | Base pattern |
|---|---|
| Concussive Beatdown | Repeated close-range strikes with substantial Falter pressure. |
| Uppercut Surge | An upward strike that launches enemies and applies Lifted. |
| Wide Edge | A broad hit that pushes nearby enemies away. |
| Spin Edge | Spinning attacks around Dylan. |
| Split Pivot | A circular blade that persists briefly in front of Dylan. |
| Split Orbit | A blade effect traveling around Dylan. |
Choose a pattern for the opening you can create. A target staying close offers an opening for Beatdown; surrounding enemies make Wide Edge’s pushback useful. Read upgrades before treating a fully upgraded demonstration as the base move.

If the finisher does not appear
- Check the purchase. Strength 15 opens the system, but you must unlock a move.
- Check Loadout → Combo. An empty slot does not add a finisher.
- Check the action. Continue Primary Attack rather than a secondary or combat ability.
- Check the opening. If the string is interrupted, create room and try again.
- For split blades, keep going. The short swipe is followed by the blade effect.
For remapped buttons, follow Primary Attack in Controls. Square and X above describe the default controller layouts.
The Aberrant forms guide explains the other weapon slots. Reach is a separate grapple ability.
