Which Fault should you finish first?
Faults are Jesse’s story and traversal rituals. Track Search for Jesse alongside the crisis missions. They are separate from SHÜM arcade challenges.

This is the three-part Search for Jesse chain. Rituals folded into Orientation and the later Oldest House story are separate story sequences. The walkthrough below includes family-memory and Jesse reunion spoilers.
Before chasing the orange-pipe island
Open the Underpass through Power Lines and Into the Sinkhole. Recursions and Iterations then takes you after the missing research team. A vision can appear before your movement kit is ready.
If you cannot cross to the orange-pipe island, finish The Subway Fault first. Our Reach walkthrough covers its station entrance, train hazards and ritual. Reach pulls you toward sphere anchors; Shift handles altered-gravity surfaces. They solve different obstacles.
Reach the island and enter the Fault
- From The Spire fast-travel door, cross the floating pillars toward the orange conduits. Use Reach on the anchor rather than trying to cover the final gap with ordinary jumps.
- On the island’s northern side, descend to the ledges underneath and turn back toward the island. Look for the lower entrance and activate the nearby Fault fast-travel door.
- Follow the interior passage, clear the Mold encounters and continue to the bright television portal at the end. Interact when the objective changes to Enter the Fault.

Follow the memories and projected children
Inside, follow the golden leaves and interact with the eye-symbol memory prompts on the stone walls. The scenes recount Dylan and Jesse’s childhood. Continue until the light-projected children begin following your route.
Move along the surfaces where their projections can travel. Keep them connected to your position; if they stop, return toward the last lit wall instead of running farther away.
Reunite young Dylan and Jesse
- Guide young Dylan along the left route, using the walls to keep the projection connected across gaps. Climb to the ledge where he can wait.
- Turn back toward young Jesse. Use the Reach anchor to cross the pillars, then Shift onto the large slab and follow it down to her.
- Lead her up the wall to the upper ledge. Leave her there while you float across to the facing surface and attach with Shift.
- Circle above her so the next lit surface reconnects the route. Continue along the walls toward young Dylan and interact at their reunion memory.
If a projection remains behind, check its last surface and move back into line of sight. A jump that Dylan can make does not necessarily provide a connected surface for the child.

Finish Jesse’s ritual before leaving
After the reunion memory, follow the opening down toward adult Jesse. Speak to her, then continue along the leaf-covered route through the rift to the easel and floating artwork.
Finish the conversation and wait for The Underpass Fault to register as completed. If the ritual remains active, return to Jesse’s last conversation prompt; reaching her location alone is not the last step. Then return to the Underpass crisis objectives.
