Start the quest

  1. Find a honking, flashing yellow cab and interact with its passenger door.
  2. Inside the Threshold, follow the ringing into the side alley and answer Mila’s payphone.
  3. Return to the street and solve three rounds. A green traffic light confirms a correct choice; a red light means compare the current arrangement again.
  4. Visit the other six entrances as their routes open, then answer the final payphone call.
Choose by the clue, not a parking position.

Use the observed lights, moving signs, parts or shadows below. If your puzzle differs from a region’s example, jump to the matching clue; the zone labels are a route index, not a rule for choosing a car.

Find all seven entrances

You can complete accessible entrances in any order. Downtown’s approach uses Reach, West Incursion uses Shift, and Underpass and Unknown require later access.

Central

Find it: Behind the warehouses near the Patterned Factory.

Go beyond the FBC Field Office into the side streets west of the factory. Search the warehouse alleys for the yellow cab, flashing headlights and horn.

Access: An early accessible entrance.

Downtown

Find it: The traffic jam at the north end of the Deserted Area road.

Use Reach from the Lookout Point side to cross into the walled-off eastern area, then follow the road north through the abandoned cars.

Access: Reach is needed for this approach.

Evacuation Zone

Find it: The dead-end hazard alley near the Evac Building.

Follow the Evac Building road and look for Hiss spikes and laser barriers between the buildings. Work past the hazards, or approach over the neighboring rooftops.

Access: Reach the end of the alley safely.

West Incursion Zone

Find it: The rotated surface beside Empire Avenue Station.

Approach the station and theater, follow the gravity route with Shift and look for the large EMPIRE letters. The horn helps locate the cab when the street is sideways.

Access: Shift is needed to follow this route.

The Park

Find it: Inside the upper parking garage, below the vendor level.

Climb the Mold-covered exterior wall to the roof. From the vendor level, drop through the Mold-filled opening and follow the internal road toward the cab.

Access: Use the roof route and drop down inside.

Underpass

Find it: A raised ledge beside the deeper research area.

Continue Recursions and Iterations through the cable-car crossing. At the research area beyond the chasm, circle the ledges and follow the cab’s lights and horn.

Access: The cable-car crossing must be accessible.

Unknown

Find it: The island with the Patterned Evac Building.

Reach the Evac Building island, face the building and check the road on your right. Circle the nearby road if needed, listening for the cab; the map view below helps identify the area.

Access: Late access to this part of the Unknown.

Unknown: regional map reference. This is the Unknown 5 map shown before the video’s taxi approach. It helps orient the route; it is not an exact taxi pin. Use the Evac Building landmark and follow the approach below. ConCon · 13:42 ▶

Solve by the clue

Compare what is happening in your Threshold, then open the matching solution. The seven clue types below each have three rounds.

Check each light set separately. Original diagram; not a screenshot.

Light combinations — usually shown in Central

Check the headlights, rear lamps and TAXI roof sign separately; walking behind a cab can reveal the deciding difference.

  1. Round 1. Find the uniquely illuminated cab. Walk around the parked cars and compare the headlights, rear lamps and roof sign. Use the car whose lighting differs, rather than memorizing a spot in the row.
  2. Round 2. Select the cab with the distinctive illuminated TAXI roof sign.
  3. Round 3. Choose the cab with all three sets lit: headlights, rear lamps and TAXI roof sign. Walk behind the car before choosing; front lights alone are insufficient.

If your opening arrangement differs from the description, compare the actual light sets. The correct car's position is not the rule.

Distance-sensitive roof signs — Downtown

Move around the row while keeping the other cabs in view.

  1. Round 1. Enter the cab whose roof sign is lit while the others are dark.
  2. Round 2. Approach each cab. Take the one whose roof sign stays on instead of switching off near you.
  3. Round 3. Stand beside another cab and watch the row: one other roof sign turns on. Identify that cab and go to it; its sign may switch off as you approach the answer itself.

The third round is easiest to misread if you look only at the car next to Dylan. Watch the other signs while you move.

Flashing taxi lights — Evacuation Zone

Stand where you can see both rows and observe several cycles.

  1. Round 1. Find the taxi flashing off-beat while the others flash together.
  2. Round 2. Find the taxi that flashes twice in its turn; the others flash once.
  3. Round 3. Find the taxi that never flashes. A single dark instant is insufficient—watch a complete cycle.

These are car-light patterns. The similar West Incursion puzzle uses the lamps above the cars.

Overhead streetlights — West Incursion Zone

Look up at the lamp illuminating each taxi, not only at the vehicle lights.

  1. Round 1. Take the taxi under the only blinking streetlight.
  2. Round 2. Take the taxi whose overhead lamp does not follow the other lamps' blinking cycle. Observe a full cycle and find the exception above a cab, rather than choosing a car because it happens to be dark for a moment.
  3. Round 3. Take the taxi under the lamp that switches on and off out of sync with the others.

Judge the rhythm over time.

Streetlight blackouts — Underpass

Wait for the overhead lights to go out before deciding.

  1. Round 1. During the blackout, take the taxi whose lights remain on.
  2. Round 2. During the blackout, take the taxi whose lights are off while the other car lights are on.
  3. Round 3. Take the taxi that alternates against the streetlights: car lights off when the streetlights are on, then car lights on when the streetlights go dark.

The final answer is a relationship between two light cycles, not a permanently dark car.

Final round only. Watch a full light cycle; this diagram does not give exact timing.

Repair the taxi — The Park

Clear the growth before rebuilding. The repair sequence uses Mold-covered parts and, in its final round, connected growths that must be cleared before fitting the cab. ConCon · 10:50 ▶

Clear the gray Mold and carry matching parts to their missing sockets.

  1. Round 1. Remove the gray growth covering the loose pieces. Attach the hood and trunk lid to the damaged cab, then enter it.
  2. Round 2. Fit both missing wheels and the yellow hood. Watch the explosive Mold hazards and leave the blue hood alone.
  3. Round 3. Follow the tendrils from the growth on the cab to its three outer nodes. Destroy those before the central mass, then rebuild the car with the matching hood, trunk lid, roof sign, front wing/body panel and rear bumper. Ignore mismatched pieces and the police siren.

If the central Mold keeps returning, clear the connected outer nodes first. If the door is still unavailable after assembly, walk around the cab and check for a remaining empty socket.

Portable-lamp shadows — Unknown

Judge the shadow, not just the yellow car. In the final round, the cab’s silhouette on the wall includes a small roof-sign shape. Enlarge this frame to compare it, then sweep your own lamp across the other cars. ConCon · 15:14 ▶

Pick up the portable light and sweep it across each car toward the wall behind it.

  1. Round 1. Select the vehicle whose projected shadow has the shape of a taxi, not a digger, truck or van.
  2. Round 2. Repeat the comparison across the expanded group, including the opposite side of the street.
  3. Round 3. Check the small roof-sign silhouette carefully. An ordinary car-shaped shadow without the TAXI sign is the decoy.

Use the shadow as evidence; the yellow body in front of you can look convincing even when its projected outline is wrong.

Final call & reward

After the seventh taxi, follow the ringing phone again and finish Mila’s last conversation. Check the Quest Log for The Last Taxi completion; clearing the seventh puzzle alone is not the final action.

Final call · 15:31 ▶

Missing a reward? Check your game version

Remedy’s update 1.4.0 notes confirm a fix for The Last Taxi not granting rewards. Older “no reward” reports therefore do not describe the whole version history.

Complete the final call and check your quest status and inventory. Published guides identify the Untapped Coffee Cup artifact; the official fix does not specify the exact item or promise automatic rewards for a quest completed before updating. Do not restart the entire chain on that assumption.

Story ending · spoilers

Mila’s final wording differs between the recorded runs. The last conversation closes the quest; it is not enough on its own to establish that Dylan brings her safely back.
