Use the compass and landmarks. Crystal travel items and Wing Altars have different destinations.

Three travel options
A Travel Crystal Fragment returns you to the last Crystal Monument where you saved. Discovered Wing Altars connect to one another. A Wing Stone Fragment lets you travel to a discovered Wing Altar from your current position; the item is consumed.
Mark the route
The game does not supply a conventional map. Record the nearest monument, a clear landmark and the blocked passage whenever you postpone a detour. A useful note says which tool or movement upgrade you were missing, rather than merely stating that a door was locked.
Use a return checklist
Before entering a side route, confirm your current health, save state and return option. A consumable return item should be available before you rely on it. Discovering a distant ledge does not establish that you can safely leave it. Return after an appropriate upgrade instead of turning every optional route into an immediate objective.
