Weapon damage types and starting loadouts
Quick answer
Carry multiple damage types and a ranged option, then choose the weapon for the enemy.

Three physical jobs
The opening equipment teaches slashing with the Rusted Sword, piercing with a spear, and impact with a club. Keep alternatives available rather than comparing every weapon against the same opponent. A resistant enemy is a reason to switch damage type, not necessarily a reason to grind levels.
Rechargeable throws
The offshore Dagger Belt supplies throwing daggers that return after a cooldown. Use a ranged option against elevated targets or enemies across a gap. Allow the cooldown to recover rather than looking for replacement arrows. Check your equipment after picking up the belt.
A flexible loadout
A sword, spear and club cover the opening types. Reach helps cautious fights, while impact is useful against skeletal targets. This is not a universal tier list: the appropriate tool depends on the opponent, available space and recovery time. Keep the bestiary nearby when a weapon suddenly seems ineffective.
