Switch Attack: Unlock, Input and Troubleshooting

Switch Attack: Unlock, Input and Troubleshooting. Practical steps and checks.

Quick answer

Inspect the secondary form’s upgrade tree in The Gap and buy its Switch Attack node when its prerequisite path and material requirements are met. Owning Crush, Whip or another secondary form is not itself proof the special transition is unlocked. Equip the secondary whose purchased move you intend to use.

Unlock it for the equipped secondary

Inspect the secondary form’s upgrade tree in The Gap and buy its Switch Attack node when its prerequisite path and material requirements are met. Owning Crush, Whip or another secondary form is not itself proof the special transition is unlocked. Equip the secondary whose purchased move you intend to use.

Use three primary inputs, then secondary

Perform the first three attacks of the primary chain, then press Secondary Attack in place of the next primary input. Default PlayStation: Square → Square → Square → Triangle. Default Xbox: X → X → X → Y. With keyboard or remapped controls, follow the named actions in your bindings. You are replacing the combo ending, rather than completing an entire primary finisher and starting a separate secondary attack afterward.

Distinguish the three outcomes

Continuing the primary sequence gives the ordinary equipped Combo Finisher. Starting with secondary gives that form’s normal attacks. The three-primary-to-secondary transition gives its unlocked Switch Attack. Practise against a manageable enemy so interruption and a depleted target do not hide which animation happened.

If the special move does not appear

Recheck the equipped form and its purchased Switch Attack node, then practise the uninterrupted sequence. A long pause or enemy hit can break your chain. Use mapped actions rather than another platform’s button labels. Change only one thing at a time so you can distinguish an unlock problem from a missed timing window.
