CONTROL Resonant Assist Mode Guide

Adjust the part of combat that is getting in your way, from projectile speed to Falter, while keeping achievements available.

Quick Answer

Open Options → Gameplay to enable Assist Mode, choose a preset if you want a starting point, and then change individual settings. Enemy Aggression, Perfect Dodge Window, Incoming Damage, Outgoing Falter and Power Recovery Speed address different obstacles. Remedy says you can change these during play and that Assist Mode does not block trophies or achievements.

Start with the problem, not a preset

Remedy designed Assist Mode as a set of separate controls rather than one difficulty switch. You can begin with a preset, but the useful step is to identify what stops you in a particular encounter. If enemies crowd you, start with aggression. If you understand an attack but cannot time the dodge, start with the dodge window.

The options live in the Gameplay settings and can be changed during play. Try the normal encounter first, change one option, then see whether it addressed the actual obstacle before changing more.

What gets in your wayTry this settingWhat it changes

This table maps symptoms to the controls Remedy documents; it is a starting experiment, not an official preset. Change one option, return to the same kind of encounter and keep the change only if it solves the problem you noticed. That makes it easier to understand whether pressure, timing or damage was the real obstacle.

Lower the pressure and improve reaction time

Enemy Aggression changes how assertively enemies attack. Perfect Dodge Window changes the timing allowance for a perfect dodge. Enemy Projectile Speed changes the pace of incoming projectiles. These controls target different problems: pressure from several enemies, a narrow timing window or attacks that are hard to read.

They can also be adjusted in the opposite direction for a harder experience. A preset is not a permanent commitment; Remedy says the individual settings remain available afterward.

Tune damage, Falter and ability recovery separately

Incoming Damage affects damage Dylan takes; Outgoing Damage affects damage he deals. Outgoing Falter changes how quickly he breaks enemy posture. If you can survive but an enemy rarely reaches a vulnerable state, Falter is the more direct option than simply lowering incoming damage.

Power Recovery Speed affects how quickly abilities return. Enhanced Melee Magnetizing helps with positioning for close-range attacks. Remedy also lists Immortality, One-Hit Kills and One-Hit Falters for players who want much larger changes. No single combination is the official best build.

Use other settings for comfort and clarity

Assist Mode is about combat, but the official support page also documents options in Controls, Graphics, Audio and Interface. Motion Blur, Lens Distortion and Shift Tunneling may help with visual comfort; subtitle and color compensation options can make information easier to read.

Changing these settings does not fix a confirmed quest blocker or GPU driver issue. Keep the game’s direct answers nearby for those symptoms. For the narrower eligibility question, see whether Assist Mode affects achievements.

If the problem is reading the screen rather than surviving a hit, look outside Assist Mode. Remedy lists Motion Blur and Lens Distortion under Graphics, subtitle size and background under Interface, and Shift Tunneling for motion comfort. Crosshair Visibility and Opaque Crosshair can make aiming information easier to find; HUD controls can remove clutter, but hiding health or threat indicators can also remove information you need. Adjust the specific part that is uncomfortable instead of applying every option at once.
