Progression guide

Character item upgrades and permanent stickers

Quick answer

Use the character-selection screen to upgrade a survivor’s signature item. Pixelsplit’s spring update introduced modifier stickers bought with apples, and those upgrades persist between runs.

Upgrade the signature item deliberately

Open character selection and inspect the modifiers for the survivor you intend to use. These are character-item changes rather than a random item you must find again on the next map. Read the effect before spending apples so the purchase supports the kind of run you want.

Match the mechanic to your build

Bushy’s spring-update mechanic uses Trap Seeds that root nearby enemies and gives additional critical chance against rooted targets. That is a different planning problem from selecting a gun solely by its damage number. When changing survivors, reconsider the trigger and support relationships around their signature item.

Use the unlock goal as a practice run

The official Bushy requirement is the Sharp-Shooter achievement: kill 1,000 zombies with the Rifle. Make that a distinct goal, preserve the required weapon and choose supports that keep it usable. Permanent modifiers can then be evaluated across future attempts instead of trying to rebuild the same character progression every run.
