Useful items: support effects and how to compare them

Quick answer

Compare what an item changes before comparing its rarity. Damage triggers, recovery, movement and rerolls solve different problems; a stronger rarity does not make an unrelated effect useful to your current weapon.

Compare by the problem you need to solve

If attacks work but you cannot reach the next pickup safely, consider movement rather than adding another damage-only effect. If an important reward selection keeps missing your build, rerolls address that problem more directly. Inspect the item tooltip and the weapon’s highlighted bonuses after placement.

Read the exact tooltip before committing

Use this selection for roles and interactions. Rarity-dependent values and exact recipe ingredients belong to the current tooltip and workbench recipe list. The Blood Bag remains useful after the unlock because its transformed versions still provide revives; do not discard it simply because it also appears in a progression task.
