Unlock The Carver: Pumpkin Patch and adjacent Knife

Choose the right destination
Look for Fields in the meadow biome when choosing the route. At that location, find and loot the Pumpkin Patch. The developer added a question-mark map hint for the pumpkin event, so use that event marker instead of searching every ordinary resource point.
Keep the pair in the backpack
Equip the Pumpkin and put a Knife directly next to it. Keep that arrangement through the boss encounter. Collecting the Pumpkin and leaving it in storage does not meet the published backpack condition. When rearranging for another airdrop, preserve the pair before confirming the new layout.
Build around the new survivor
The Carver uses Pumpkin Turrets. The developer describes them as triggerable items: compatible equipment in the build can trigger them to fire. After unlocking him, inspect your activation sources and selector positions rather than treating the turrets like an ordinary gun that needs only damage upgrades.
