Crafting and merging: preserve the build while upgrading

Quick answer

Merge matching items for rarity upgrades and use the workbench recipe list for named crafts. Before consuming ingredients, check that the result fits your backpack and does not remove the support that keeps your current weapon effective.

Read the current recipe interface

The official 1.0 notes state that the workbench sorts craftable recipes and displays ingredient quantities and rarities. Use that list instead of assuming a guide’s incomplete ingredient phrase is a recipe. A craft-only weapon describes its source, not necessarily a legendary rarity.

Know the craft-only options

Flamethrower, Desert Eagle, Mega Shotgun, Crossbow and Grinder are the five weapons introduced as craft-only in 1.0. Plasma Hand is a separate craftable item that supplies additional weapon hands. Choose the mechanic your loadout needs; do not sacrifice a successful setup merely to collect a new name.

Two documented recipe examples

The Early Access launch notes document Railgun as two blue Batteries plus one purple Rifle. The0.19 announcement gives Nail plus Bandage for Lucy, the Spiked Bat. These are dated developer recipes, not a claim that every ingredient quantity or rarity remains unchanged in1.0: confirm the current workbench entry before collecting the parts.

Plan the end-of-day Hammer

Hammer raises the rarity of marked items at day end, limited by the Hammer’s own rarity. Check which pieces are marked before extraction. Lottery Ticket can sometimes save a crafting ingredient, but a chance-based saving is a bonus rather than a guaranteed substitute for a missing component.
