Moon Sweepers Tools & Upgrade Priorities
Compare six brushes, understand containers and choose upgrades around your actual bottleneck.
Quick answer
Width improves each cleaning pass; capacity reduces trips to empty. The Household Broom is the practical early target. Upgrade the tool you plan to keep, then improve delivery. Crew-wide matrix upgrades and personal equipment are different systems.

Menu values below are reported by the Wikily tool reference for 1.0.5, rather than published in the Steam store description. Widths are rounded. Use the live menu if a later update differs.
| Tool | Base price | Base capacity | Width |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toothbrush | Free | 0.5 kg | 0.12 m |
| Nail brush | $5 | 0.75 kg | 0.19 m |
| Hand brush | $10 | 1 kg | 0.25 m |
| Household broom | $25 | 3 kg | 0.44 m |
| Wide broom | $75 | 6 kg | 0.66 m |
| Extra wide broom | $150 | 12 kg | 0.99 m |
Container upgrades
Each tool has three container levels. The reference tables list capacities at 2×, 4× and 8× base capacity. For the Household Broom that is 6, 12 and 24 kg; for the Extra wide broom it is 24, 48 and 96 kg. These are tool-specific upgrades: upgrading one container does not make every brush hold the same amount.
| Tool | Level I | Level II | Level III |
|---|---|---|---|
| Household broom | $30 | $60 | $120 |
| Wide broom | $60 | $120 | $240 |
| Extra wide broom | $120 | $240 | $480 |
Choose a matrix purchase by its effect
| Need | Look for | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Faster hand sweeping | Cleaning / Wide Heads | Useful while you remain a manual cleaner. |
| Fewer emptying interruptions | Containers / capacity | Buy for your current long-term tool. |
| Less time unloading | Logistics / transfer | Useful only if unloading is the measured delay. |
| More return on sales | Economy / payout upgrades | Compare extra income with the purchase cost. |
| Longer travel or better visibility | Suit gear | Solve a travel or visibility problem first. |
Since 1.0.3, the crew uses the host’s upgrade matrix and anyone’s purchase applies to everyone. This does not mean every personal tool purchase is shared. Avoid buying the same matrix benefit with multiple people expecting separate bonuses.
Suit gear and night vision
Patch 1.0.4 added Night Vision Goggles for $350 and moved helmet lamp upgrades to the supply wall. N cycles lamp → goggles → off. Buy visibility when night is preventing you from working; it does not increase production or pay for machinery.
