Find the right person
Community recordings show different four- or five-digit numbers for the same contact across saves. Retain each card and use its phone-book entry. Keep notes by contact name and role, rather than collecting a supposed universal number list.
Common roles

Costs are more than credits
Read favor costs and cooldowns as well as the cash price. The contact notebook on this site stores your own number and reminder in this browser. It is independent of the game and does not read your save.
If a call misbehaves
UPDATE 049 improved quick-dialing and hanging up, including closing a phone with Escape. If a contact is unavailable, check the in-game availability first. Do not assume a locked story contact is broken or available from day one.
