Night scavenging: prepare, search and return safely
Leave room in the bag, carry treatment for injuries, and decide whether the salvage is worth tomorrow’s lost customer before taking a night trip.
Quick answer
Leave room in the bag, carry treatment for injuries, and decide whether the salvage is worth tomorrow’s lost customer before taking a night trip.

Before leaving
Finish counter business and move valuables inside. Bring a bandage, keep only useful tools and leave grid space for salvage. Use the after-hours outing option to visit the Dumping Ground. If it is unavailable, inspect health, perks and the current stage; Maimed prevents scavenging.
Search selectively
Open a search location, read its loot and injury panel, and move useful finds into your bag. Choose materials for an operating furnace or stock with an available buyer. Stop if injured or if remaining carrying space makes another search unhelpful. Do not count an item left on the ground as acquired stock.
Injuries and the night cost
The independent Wiki reproduces a screenshot with 10% minor and 2.25% major wound risk; these are that panel’s values, not universal odds for every perk or site. An injury can disable further searches. Return to the shop, treat it according to its item prompt, and inspect your health before another trip. Short Sleeper removes the usual next-day customer cost of an outing; otherwise include that lost trade in the decision.
Make the next opening useful
Sort salvage immediately: sellable goods, production inputs and items to inspect. Test uncertain merchandise before pricing it. For waste disposal, follow the separate barrel guide; a scavenging trip does not automatically remove items still in your bag. Avoid taking repeated night trips once a steady customer stream is worth more than the materials you bring home.
