What changes with the product

Original Switch software can run on Switch 2 under compatibility, but keeps the reported 30fps cap. Native Switch 2 targets 60fps in the published retail comparison. Both the higher target and quicker area transitions are reported observations, not a promise of locked performance in every scene. The two software editions cannot exchange saves.

Physical and storage checks

RPG Site identifies the original Switch physical edition as game-on-cartridge and native Switch 2 as a Game-Key Card. Verify the exact regional package and required download before buying. Nintendo currently estimates 8.8GB and 11.9GB respectively; a historical 12.7GB figure is not the current estimate. Native play supports TV, tabletop and handheld modes.

Read a performance comparison correctly

In the retail test, native Switch 2 on internal storage took about 11 seconds to title and 3–4 seconds to an early save. Original software on the same console was close in those operations; original OLED hardware on SD storage was slower to title. These are different operations from repeated area transitions. Do not turn one measurement into a universal loading claim. Check moving ground detail and battle effects on your own display.
