Status Ailments: Remedies, Prevention & Debuff Checks

Restore the actor who can recover the party; healing HP alone does not cure lost actions or a death countdown.

Quick answer

Restore the actor who can recover the party; healing HP alone does not cure lost actions or a death countdown.

Doom: work around the countdown

An active Doom counter has no ordinary cure in the referenced mechanics. Winning or escaping before it resolves can avoid the countdown’s defeat. Reraise revives a character after the resulting knockout; it does not remove the active counter.

Game8 lists Bone Mail as a preventive protection option, distinct from treating an already afflicted character. Its rare-steal source is Malboro Marquis in Dragon’s Maw. Check the item’s equipped protection before relying on it, and retain a way to revive or finish the encounter.

Distinguish three different failures

An ailment disables or alters an actor. A stat debuff changes combat attributes and is not removed by Esuna/Remedy. Doom is a death countdown: prepare a verified cure or revival route rather than assuming an ordinary heal stops it. Some trial death attacks explicitly bypass ordinary immunity; check that encounter’s rule.

Protect the recovery route

Fina’s Light Veil can prevent the next ailment/debuff, while a second active ally can use an appropriate item if she loses control. Ribbon excludes Instant Death; Super Ribbon’s broader protection comes from Champion Battle 1. Inspect remaining status icons after each action instead of assuming a previously cast barrier is permanent.
