Aquafarming: tanks, roe and harvesting
Keep circulation working and match the habitat to the species before expecting roe or meat. The official Aquafarmer update describes tilapia, eels and sturgeon.
Quick answer

Start with a complete tank system
The Retired Aquafarmer upgrade supplies circulation equipment, tilapia and food. The launch announcement also lists Aquafarmer as a starting scenario. Choose it for a slower production route: the developer describes it as needing less maintenance than rat ranching. This does not mean fish can survive without upkeep.
Check a stalled tank in order
First inspect the tank’s water quality, then its filtration and energy cell. Circulation is part of keeping fish healthy. Read the habitat requirements of the species you own before adding a more valuable fish. Our recommended troubleshooting order isolates the supply problem before you spend on expansion; it is not an official numeric water-quality formula.
From roe to harvest
When suitable conditions are met, fish can lay and fertilize roe. Roe hatches into fry, which grow into mature fish. Do not butcher all your breeding stock while waiting for a new generation. The developer supplies no universal hatch timer in this announcement, so use the tank and animal tooltips rather than a promised overnight harvest.
Meat, caviar and expansion
A knife slaughters and butchers fish for meat. Surgery Tools can harvest caviar from sturgeon. Tank upgrades require materials; check the current requirement before buying them. Eels and sturgeon are described as more valuable species, but a higher sale value does not automatically cover the extra habitat investment. Compare a small completed cycle in the profit planner before scaling.
Assemble and feed the first system
Acquire Aquaculture through Wild or the opening scenario. Place circulation equipment and a reservoir, add appropriate water and filtration, insert a charged cell, and stock the feeder before adding fish or roe. Inspect water, oxygen, pollution, space and food each day. Use Blend where the feeder requires prepared food. Eels and sturgeon need meat-based feeding; do not assume the tilapia diet suits every later species. Harvest surplus before overcrowding and retain healthy breeders.
