Should you pay Lid 1,000 gil?

The payment buys a ladder shortcut on Mt. Thunderclap. Refusing it does not change the story outcome. Choose it for easier travel if you can spare the gil; otherwise continue by the regular route. After clearing the mountain, its Back Entrance lets you revisit the Raiju’s Cloak and Tablet Shard pickups associated with that side of the route.

Keep the shortcut decision separate from the required mountain battle and from Lid’s later personal quest.

Main route checkpoints

1. Find Lid at Dilmagia Shipyard and follow Mt. Thunderclap toward Dwarven Forge. The paid shortcut is optional; lower its connecting ladder if used.
2. Use Earth on Liquid Thunder. Find Borin at the forge and prepare Water for Mom Bomb and its four follow-up Great Bombs.
3. Follow the rescue into Mobliz. Preserve a manual save before the timed story event.
4. During the fifteen-minute escape, operate lever 16. Avoid optional patrols and take the working right elevator once the old exit is blocked.
5. Defeat Epimetheus/Security Eyes and follow the cargo train; Adrastea takes Lightning or Water.
6. Finish the forge repair objectives, enter Wind Shrine with Ice ready for Aether, then return to Dilmagia’s shipyard for Olderion.

If progression seems stuck

Ramuh’s upper-entrance trial and the later blueprint quest are optional tasks, not replacements for the wind-crystal route.
