Starting formations

Once the early four are available, Rain/Lasswell/Fina/Lid gives protection, Ice gauge pressure, recovery/Light and machinery/Earth. Swap Visions to supply missing elements rather than treating those identities as fixed jobs. Later, Rain/Lasswell/Fina/Sakura is a useful physical/magical mix; substitute Nichol when buff economy matters or Archwitch Fina when supported debuffs unlock the fight.

Choose the command, then its teacher

For a physical Rain, Cloud adds breaking and Water/Lightning coverage; a defensive Warrior of Light setup supplies protection and healing. Fina can retain Medic functions while learning backup recovery elsewhere. Sakura’s magic plan needs available MP and a non-absorbed element. Any permanent teaching still requires mastery and AP: equipping a different Vision can remove unlearned commands.

Check a formation before committing

Put usable healing on two available actors for forced-party sequences. Keep an all-target breaker for enemy packs and a strong finisher for single targets. Read the boss’s physical/magical counter before choosing the fourth slot. These are editorial starting suggestions, not measured universal damage rankings.
