Peng Meng boss guide: dark attacks, guard breaks and Dread Axe
Recognise dark-glow windups, then use the reward to open a route.
Quick answer
Dodge the dark-glow rush and backward slam instead of taking them on your guard. Keep the exchange controlled and attack during guard breaks. The Dread Axe reward opens the outpost chain gate.

Location and preparation
Peng Meng blocks the route beyond the outpost. Bring two familiar weapons; if you have Jagged Steel, reserve its pressure for a guard-break opening.
Recognise the two dark-glow windups
- Forward rush: prepare to dodge the dark glow.
- Backward slam: a turned back does not guarantee a safe opening.
- Regular exchange: read red/blue cues, preserve guard resources and punish a break.
Blocking these dark attacks empties Sha-Chi. If they repeatedly end your attempts, practise recognising the windups before adding more attacks.
After victory: the axe and chain gate
Collect the Dread Axe Phantom Edge after victory, then return to the outpost chain barrier. If progress still feels blocked, check the reward and its exploration interaction.
