Weapons guide: main weapons and Phantom Edges
Choose by reach, commitment and purpose, then test before upgrading.
Quick answer
Use main weapons for your regular combat loop and Phantom Edges for specific attacks or exploration abilities. Find two main weapons you can use reliably; reforging lets you reclaim upgrade materials.

Understand the two roles
| Category | Purpose | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Main weapons | Regular attacks and combos | Reach, sequence length and recovery |
| Phantom Edges | Specific attacks and some exploration routes | The encounter or obstacle they address |
Try a newly acquired weapon in a lower-risk encounter before replacing a familiar setup. A new drop is an opportunity to experiment, not an instruction to change immediately.
Compare weapons with the same questions
- Does the reach fit the distance you naturally keep? Repeated misses are a spacing problem to solve first.
- Can you end an attack sequence in time to defend?
- Does your second weapon offer a useful alternative rhythm or range?
- Do you have evidence that its special effect suits the current opponent?
A consistent comparison tells you more than testing one weapon against easy enemies and another against a new boss.
Upgrade, test, then consider reforging
S-Game confirms that weapons can be upgraded and reforged to return materials for another weapon. Check the current in-game preview before confirming a reforge; do not assume every currency or consumable is included.
Use that flexibility to learn a reliable setup rather than chasing an unsupported universal best weapon.
Revisit routes after new abilities
Some Phantom Edges interact with obstacles. Keep a short list of blocked routes and return when an ability matches the problem. Treat exploration use, special attacks and main-weapon combos as separate questions.
Zhuiming’s chain-sickle opens an early route
Defeating the valley chapter boss Zhuiming grants 追命锁镰 (described here as Zhuiming’s chain-sickle, not a verified English item name). Return to the opening cliff chest with it. Original opening-chest guide ↗
Five early acquisition targets
| Item | Type | Acquisition / onward use |
|---|---|---|
| 残钢刃 / Jagged Steel | Main weapon | Cangang boss guide |
| 红妆鬼斩 / Scarlet Wraithblade | Main weapon | Hua boss guide |
| 巨凶斧 / Dread Axe | Phantom Edge | Peng Meng boss guide |
| 羽弓 | Phantom Edge | Bow acquisition |
| 追命锁镰 | Phantom Edge | Weeping Creek route |
These are acquisition goals, not a damage ranking. The bow, axe and chain-sickle also unlock routes; compare their purpose separately from main-weapon damage.
